Gameplay

As a means to be informed:

As a gamer who has played RTS games such as Empire Earth and Age of Empires which is perhaps the most closely related RTS (Real Time Strategy) to Civilization 4 on the market today, I find that Civ 4 is far from being the most entertaining or stimulating game available. I am commenting on it's lack of entertainment value because it doesn't grasp me; it seems like the majority of my mind remains occupied by real world happenings instead of being focused on the game. I don't believe that it should be necessary for me to consciously decide to get into a game. As a matter of stimulation, the interactivity is slow, stomach churningly slow. A RTS as a genre (feel free to label me as one who quibbles over definition), should be playable in real time. The turn based aspect of the game is something that I found to be terribly boring. I suppose that the game wasn't designed for my demographic. Maybe by me not being a person who played board based war games, the game style is not something that calls out to me.

The purpose of my ranting is intended to be geared toward the idea that a learning vessel in today's America should be both entertaining and stimulating. If you intend for people to learn, you have to give them something that they will find interesting.

I remember thinking of it as a task.
